When God Seems Silent
• You’re Not Alone
(Psalm 6: 2,3,6) 2 Have mercy on me, LORD, for I am faint; heal me, LORD, for my bones are in agony. 3 My soul is in deep anguish. How long, LORD, how long? … 6 I am worn out from my groaning. All night long I flood my bed with weeping and drench my couch with tears.
(Psalm 22:1-2) My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish? 2 My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, by night, but I find no rest.
• Why Not, God?
(2Cr 12:7-10) 7 In order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
• What to Do
(Psalm 46:10) “Be still, and know that I am God” (Rom 8:38-39 NIV) 38
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
(Psalm 6:9) The LORD has heard my cry for mercy; the LORD accepts my prayer.
