During this Advent season, we’ll take a break from our Romans study and plunge into Advent’s major themes (Hope, Peace, Joy and Love).
This week, we will define Hope through the example the ancient prophet Isaiah gave us of showing that Hope is not a passive activity, but one to be actively engaged in as we’re intertwined with our Lord (Isaiah 40:29-31). We’ll also look at Mary’s song and see some practical ways to achieve this higher state of being (Luke 1:46-55).
If we think we’re “Large and In Charge,” then we’ve got another thing coming. The funny thing is, by giving up control to God, we gain the only real control that will be fruitful.
One practical way we can be mindful of who is in control is by prayerfully practicing thanksgiving. In light of this fact, we will take calls at (877) 883-0830. Call in and tell us what you’re thankful for!
We will also hear from our guest Bill Godwin with University Baptist Church in Palm Desert, CA. He’s a remarkable pastor who dragged a cross across the desert sands to make a point. Christ died for you-that’s the point!
There is good and bad news to cleaning up your big fat mess in time for the holidays. Pastor Andy, Mr. Bil and Lia will discuss the good and bad news to cleaning up your messes before the holidays.
Later in the show, we’ll play Mr. Bil’s interview with First Baptist Glendale’s offbeat elder Lee Matthews.
“Pink Elephants” are the thoughts we sometimes have that we cannot escape. Pastor Andy, Mr. Bil and Lia will discuss why we need to “set our minds on the things above” instead of thinking of sin and being attracted to it. Veterans Day is coming up this week and we will take time to salute our Vets and honor them for their service and sacrifice.
Later in the show, we’ll play Mr. Bil’s interview with Lydia Floyd from Hands of Hope. Continue reading
